just can't stop myself. [JADE] « Thread Started on Feb 13, 2007, 11:56pm »
{i'm alright in bed but i'm better with a pen.}
Now, Jake could be considered an arcade goer. There were plenty of reasons for this, most of them were directly related to the fact that Jake had nothing better to do. If he wasn't penned up in his room playing bass, he was wandering the town, partying or doing something else. Most of his life went unscripted and so, when he hit a boring spot, this was where he ended up. Back at the arcade, lounging in a chair and watching middle of dinner gamers go at it. This was the time of day when only the best people were left, those who could keep a game going for hours and had no need to stop and get food. Watching them go at it was hilarious but amazing at once, Jake wished he had the wrist strength to do that. Or the brains. Whenever he tried to play anything he usually died shortly after he started.
Right now it was promptly seven o'clock, the place would be closing down for the night around nine, as it always did. Trying to get the people glued to the screen out of the place was an hour long process, so they'd probably start closing up at around eight thirty. With this in mind, Jake had called Jade just a few hours ago and invited her to meet him here at seven, maybe sneak in a few rounds of Dance Dance Revolution. Beating her at the game was one of his lifelong passions, Jake was pretty good at the game after a lifetime of dedication. As I said before, he didn't have all that much else to do. There were always extra hours to waste when he didn't want to be home (and he never wanted to be home).
Standing up from his table, he scuffed his shoe on the ground and gave himself a quick look over, finally taking his sunglasses off now that he realized he was inside. Pushing off his hood for a brief second, he razzled his hair, even though it looked razzled enough as it was, and then shifted in his spot for a second. These kinds of things were normal occurences with Jake, he could be comfortable almost anywhere. Which could be a problem at times. Dusting off his pants, he looked down at the jeans for a second and then wondered why he didn't bother wearing a belt today. Just too lazy, he guessed. When he made up his mind to move somewhere, he couldn't decide where. Normally he would of just gone with the flow, but for the moment he felt like he couldn't find it. Something about tonight was bothering him.
It was probably just the thought of seeing Jade again, after what they'd done. So far they'd really only talked over the phone and for a few minutes when he'd seen her at the grocery store. That was pretty brief for a guy who liked to spend hours of time with people, instead of flitting between a bunch of friends. Trying to get his mind off the event was only making the memory more vivid in his mind and now he was positive it wasn't going to go away. Nothing was going to let him forget this, though his plan was to act like nothing had happened when Jade walked in through that door. Like he had just blacked out, from being drunk. Though that definetly didn't happen. In fact, Jake remembered every second of it.

{every inch of me is bruised}
Honestly, Jade didn't really know why she was here. She was moving and not really going anywhere, at least that she was aware of. For all she knew she could've ended up in some bad part of the city and get her ass kicked, or who knows. But she was just oblivious to it all, walking around in a daze. It seemes like all she did these days was wander around in a daze, not really seeing things the way they should be viewed. Was she depressed? No, she was just stuck in some world she wished wasn't her own. Jade would do anything, anything to have a better life she she did now. Her mother thought she was some psychopath, her so-called 'father' had taken to beating her, and her brother depended on her like people needed air to breathe. And to be honest, it was all getting to her.
Her mother was always watching her only daughter over her shoulder, like at any moment she could snap again and go into another 'dark' phase where she'd become obsessed with death or join a cult. She had the shrinks on speed dial and kept jars of medicine in the hall closet just in case. She always said 'You never knew when things could happen'. But too bad for her, since she seemed to anticipate Jade's mental health going down the drain so much, it wasn't going to happen. Despite the fact that sometimes she felt like she was going insane, Jade was far from it. And then there was The Dad, as she had taken to calling him. His life was just going down the drain, farther and farther with each day. He was out of work, and not doing anything about it. He sat his fat ass on the couch all day and did nothing, but wacth televison and drink endless amounts of booze. And when he finally got to the point where he was too drunk to do anything about it, or some little thing would piss him off, he'd take all his frustrations out on his family; mostly Jade. Since she was the one who stuck around too much, hiding up in her room when she wasn't out at school. The bruises littering her arms proved her father's tendencies were getting worse. A sigh passed through her lips and she shook her head softly, hair falling into her eyes as she made her way through the rows of arcade games.
She passed by kids who were trying to break records and doing their absolute best to win the games they so desperatly played. They were so zoned into the game, they barely realized anything else. Ha, kind of like Jade herself. She wasn't too hand-eye coordinated to do any of that kind of stuff, but you could try sometimes. A little smile danced across her face and she came out of a row of games, turning into another and stopping short. A gasped breath lept from her throat, her heart leaping into her mouth. Standing not even three feet away from her was Jake. She hadn't seen him in awhile, not since that night at the party. And was that sure a night...they only talked on the phone for a few moments sometime afterwards, but it was really akward for the both of them. Not knowing what to say to someone was the worst thing in the world, it drove her crazy. Her plams began to sweat as she stood there, not knowing what to do or if she should say anything. But more than anything she wanted to run, get away from him before he saw her there, but she was rooted to the spot. What is wrong with me?!

Family things were usually the last thing on Jake's mind. Not because his family didn't have their problems, every family did. Whether it be the Fisher's, the Tucker's or even the seemingly happy Stevens. No, the reason he didn't think much about family was the simple fact that doing so was unpleasant. Jacob was one of those people who would rather not deal with the problems in his life and simply wait for him to go away. Thinking about them didn't solve anything in his perspective, all it did was make him depressing and annoying. When you were rich and had seemingly no problems whatsoever, you couldn't go on complaining about how you felt. Fact was, nobody cared. Other people had worse problems then him, plenty of people... most people. As much as he often wanted to complain, he always refrained.
Being rich meant, that when you complained, everybody raised an eyebrow and started laughing. Because, hey, you were rich. Money was the route to all happiness for those who didn't have it, but for Jake, now that he had it (and always had it) he didn't really want it. Funny how life worked that way, nobody was ever really happy in the end. That was just the way things were, better to be a happy rich kid than a whiny one, right? Standing there awkwardly wasn't going to do him much good and he was fully aware of that, but he seemed to be standing around awkwardly a lot these days. Ever since the evening with Jade he'd been a little edgy, truthfully. There were plenty of reasons for him to be shaken up, but the one that bothered him most was the fact that he swore she'd been bruised, really badly. As was Jake's way, however, he was trying to ignore that fact and push it out of his head. Pretend it was his drunken mind imagining things. When he got drunk he was often told he'd just imagined things and over a time he'd come to get used to the fact that he liked to over dramatize a situation when he was alcohol driven. It was possible that she'd only had one bruise and in his head he'd expanded it to a thousand more. That wasn't too much unlike the things his head had tricked him into believing before.
For that matter, how did he know that he wasn't the one who'd done it to her, after he'd drank enough he wasn't exactly a class A participant in society. Luckily he didn't have to go too far into thinking about that, because he knew better then to dig into the back of his head. It never did him any good. Stretching his arm over his chest for a second to try and get rid of that sleepy feeling, he turned around (with intentions to head for the counter to get another drink) and that was when he saw Jade. Talking to her on the phone had been hard enough, but seeing her front and center made his stomach twist and turn until he felt ready to throw up. She really didn't look any better, ultimately uneasy. Gasping, he was sure he'd heard it coming from her direction before he turned around, but nothing was certain. Obviously she remembered the event just as well as he did, but maybe she hadn't had quite as much time to think about it as he did. Not wanting to make things seem awkward, like it was any normal day, he smiled in his usual 'nice to see you' way and took a step forward, stuffing a hand in his pocket. "Hey, Jade. Up for DDR?" was all that came out of his mouth. Nothing more, not a hint at what had happened.

She couldn't help but stand there for a moment or two, probably having that whole 'deer in the headlights' look going on. Jade was kind of in awe that she saw Jake here, of all places, of all the people. She ran into him, they hadn't seen each other since well -- that night. And now here they were, face to face. The world was going on all around her and Jade still stood there, not knowing what to do or say -- for once in her life. Finally some kid brushed past her, bumping into her shoulder with a muffled 'excuse me' and she snapped back into reality. Not wanting to make herself look, and feel, like even more of a fool. She couldn't help but suddenly be bombarded with memories of that night, most of it was a blur to her on account of all the alcohol she'd consumed that night. But what she remembered most was waking up with not only a killer hang-over but the sick realization that she'd done something totally, pardon the pun, fucked up.
Her eyes scanned around her, looking for some way to excuse herself from being around him. She didn't want to talk, she didn't want to be around Jake. It wasn't that she didn't like him, because she honestly did, but it's just that seeing him was a constant reminder that she'd done something wrong. That they might not have a good relationship anymore after that whole ordeal, it was hard enough talking to him on the phone, and now seeing him right there made her want to turn and run in the other way. Either that or throw up, she wasn't too sure what she wanted to do, but she still stood there not moving a muscle. As much as she wanted to leave, she actually wanted to stick around.
A hand ran through her two-tone hair, ruffling it for just a second before it all fell back into its normal position against her head. She couldn't help but smile as Jake seemed to play it off as nothing ever happen. Oh thank God. She thought, looking finally at him. A little laugh came forth from her when he asked if she was up for DDR. Was she though? Sure, why not. Jade didn't have anything better to do with herself, it was either this or go home and face the wrath of The Dad, and this was actually ten times better.

Touches and moans, hundreds of little details were still present in Jake's mind. Whenever he got drunk, it was that special kind of drunk. The drunk a party animal gets, that somebody who is used to drowning themselves in alcohol receives. Remembering everything was normally a good thing, but not in this case. Jake's version of drunk proved to be the overly happy kind, he didn't lose too many motor skills until the far later stages and it was always followed by extremely bad hangovers (the punishing wrath of God, Jake supposed). Assuredly, he'd had a very bad hangover that morning when the two of them had woke up next to each other and it took everything he had to pull himself together, get dressed and go... even though they were at his house. Smooth, right? Well, he wasn't exactly the grand master of keeping his cool.
With her response, after she'd been knocked out of her stupor, Jake just nodded as he always would have. A few of his instincts told him to go right on with the feelings he'd been having that night. Press their lips together, say it wasn't a mistake... that was his hopeless romantic side acting up, however. Jade wasn't the girl he had feelings for and he knew that, this was just his bodies way of trying to get more sex (it actually thought by itself, Jake was sure of it). Pushing those thoughts aside, he jabbed a thumb in the direction of the infamous video game and headed towards it himself, trying to be as normal as possible. Had Jade acted like she hadn't thought it was a mistake too, Jake would of been completely at a loss as far as his reactions went, as it was he had it all worked out in his head. Hopefully with the course of time it would all be forgotten.
"I'll pay, I've got extra cash..." Jake offered as they reached the machines, stepping onto his usual, the one to the left that had been etched with the names of a hundred past winners... so many contests had been held at these very machines that Jake was alarmed they hadn't broken down yet. Stuffing a hand in his jacket pocket to pull out a few tokens, Jake handed over four to her and then started slotting his own in, knowing there'd be time for them to talk once the game started... at this point he was pretty sure they could both do the beginning as a sort of 'no brainer' thing. At least he could. The game revved up and he shifted uneasily for a second before popping out a question and turning her way. "So, how've things been?" Simple enough.
